The second match of City Elite Development Squad’s week-long trip to Germany takes place on Wednesday night.

FC Nurnberg provide the opposition for what promises to be another good workout for Patrick Vieira’s side ahead of the 2014/15 kick-off.

On Monday afternoon, City were unfortunate to go down to a narrow 2-1 defeat to a Bayern Munich under-23 selection.

Jordy Hiwula had given his side the lead with his fourth goal in two pre-season matches, before goals from Edwin Schwarz and Tobias Schweinsteiger turned the tide.

Considering the more senior average age of the opposition and the nature of this tight, keenly contested game on foreign soil, it wasn’t a bad result for Vieira’s side as they prepare for another season of domestic and European competition.

In good news for the EDS, 2012/13’s top-scorer Jose Angel Pozo played his first 25 minutes since suffering the ankle injury which kept him out of the last campaign.

The likes of George Evans, James Horsfield, Olivier Ntcham, Thierry Ambrose and James Hardy played no part in the Bayern match, so they will all be hoping to feature in this, their third match of pre-season.

Kick-off at Nurnberg Training Ground (Valznerweiherstraße 200, 90480 Nürnberg, Germany) is at 5pm (BST).

We’ll have a match report here on mcfc.co.uk shortly after full-time.
