Who gets your vote for the EDS Player of the Year Award?

It’s been a magnificent season for the Elite Development Squad in Patrick Vieira’s maiden year in charge.

There were outstanding performers all over the park,  but we’ve managed to narrow it down to four nominees.

Our first nominee was Shay Facey, followed by French youth international midfielder Seko Fofana, but who else made our shortlist?

Next up, it’s City and Belgium youth international defender, Jason Denayer.

Jason’s partnership with fellow nominee Facey in the heart of the City EDS defence was one of the standout features of the campaign, both at home and on the continent.

Together, the pair helped the Blues to qualify for the knockout stages of European competition for the first time, with Denayer scoring his first competitive goal for Vieira’s side in the stunning 6-0 win over Bayern Munich in the group stages of the UEFA Youth League.

He was also a key member of the team which finished in fourth place in the Barclays u21 Premier League and reached the final of the Premier League Cup.

Known for his athleticism, intelligence on the ball and his ability to bring the ball out of defence with his long strides, the 19-year old is a strong candidate for the EDS Player of the Year award.

He made 31 appearances in all competitions last season.

We’ll be revealing one nominee each day and voting opens on mcfc.co.uk on Friday 11 July. The winner will be announced at City Live in August.
