Who gets your vote for the EDS Player of the Year Award?

It’s been a magnificent season for the Elite Development Squad in Patrick Vieira’s maiden year in charge.

There were outstanding performers all over the park, but we’ve managed to narrow it down to four nominees.

So, far our list includes Shay Facey, Seko Fofana and Jason Denayer - but who else made the cut?

Last but not least, it’s City’s Portuguese forward Marcos Lopes.

The 18-year-old, who joined French Ligue 1 side Lille on loan earlier this week, is one of the Blues’ rising stars and made four appearances for Manuel Pellegrini’s first-team last season.

One of those appearances was the Capital One Cup semi-final second leg against West Ham. Lopes particularly shone in that encounter, setting up two goals, and was rewarded with the Man of the Match award.

Since then, the youngster has gone on to represent the first-team during their post-season tour in Abu Dhabi, where he opened the scoring in a 3-0 victory over Al Ain.

In the 2012/13 season, he became the Club’s youngest ever scorer in an FA Cup win over Watford and went on to be named Academy Player of the Year before making the step up to the Elite Development Squad.

Last term, he captained the U19s to the quarter-finals of the inaugural UEFA Youth League and skippered the EDS to the U21 Premier League semi-final.

We’ll be revealing one nominee each day and voting opens on mcfc.co.uk on Friday 11 July. The winner will be announced at City Live in August.
