Who gets your vote for the EDS Player of the Year Award?

It’s been a magnificent season for the Elite Development Squad in Patrick Vieira’s maiden year in charge.

There were outstanding performers all over the park,  but we’ve managed to narrow it down to four nominees.

VOTE FOR SHAY FACEY

After returning from the first team pre-season tour of South Africa, 19 year old centre back Shay Facey has had a season to remember for the EDS. his unfaltering, mature performances alongside defensive partner Jason Denayer earned him his first call up to the England under 19s, making his international debut in a one all draw against Slovenia. Chosen as the “surprise package” by Head of EDS Patrick Vieira, Facey will be looking to once again stamp his authority in the under 21 league next season.

VOTE FOR SEKO FOFANA

This, many would argue, was Seko Fofana’s breakthrough season. The Frenchman mesmorise the opposition throughout the season showing real quality in his strength, passing and dribbling abilities. The French youth international has already been compared to his manager Patrick Vieira and City’s Yaya Toure. Big praise indeed, but praise that’s richly deserved.

VOTE FOR MARCOS LOPES

At the end of the 2013/14 season, Marcos Lopes would finish with total of 13 goals to his name in all competitions. His creative performances and goal scoring exploits for the EDS earned a call up to the first team’s successful Capital One Cup run. Unfazed by the big stage, the 18 year old will gain even more invaluable first team experience after he completed a season long loan move to Ligue 1 big hitters Lille.

VOTE FOR JASON DENAYER

Affectionately known as “The Beast”, Jason Denayer has been a key member to what is one of the best defensive partnerships at EDS level. Positioning, awareness and strength, he encapsulates everything needed from a hard working, tenacious centre-back as well as being a force in the opposition box. He would go on to represent Belgium 5 times in the Under 19 Euro Championships. Further proof to what an outstanding season the 19 year old had.
