Jorge Intima and Marcos Lopes face Germany in Budapest aiming to give their nation a first win in the competition for 20 years.
In a repeat of last year’s last four encounter, holders Serbia took them all the way to penalties but this time Portugal prevailed 4-3 on spot-kicks.
EDS Player of the Year nominee Lopes played all 120 minutes and scored the first penalty of the shootout to book a place a first final berth since 2003.
Intima was an unused substitute.
Over the course of normal and extra-time there was precious little between the sides.
Portugal dominated possession for the majority of the night but Serbia were having all of the best chances at the other end.
A shootout looked inevitable for a long time before the final whistle was blown and the stage was set for substitute keeper Tiago Sá to make himself the hero, saving Serhek Milinkovic-Savic’s penalty to set up a meeting with Germany.

The City EDS winger played all 90 minutes for his nation but couldn’t prevent the rampant Germans from reaching their third final.
