City's EDS team begin the defence of the Premier League International Cup this evening when they welcome Borussia Monchengladbach to the Academy Stadium.
Patrick Vieira’s young charges sunk Porto on a rainy night in May last season to become the inaugural winners of the competition.
16 clubs, eight from England, will take part in the tournament with an initial group stage followed up by the knock-out phase.
The winners and runners up from each four groups will progress to the quarter-final stage.
City are in a group with Moenchengladbach, Sunderland and Athletic Bilbao.
