The 20-year-old Austrian injured his knee while on loan with Dutch side Cambuur at the end of February and had been side-lined ever since.
He made his City EDS return against Southampton Under-21s on Monday evening, coming on as a second-half substitute during a 3-1 victory.
“I’m feeling very good, strong and it feels really good to be back,” he said.
“I know it’s a while since my last game, but it’s great to be back with the team and start my season off with a win.
“It was difficult to begin with because I’ve never had a serious injury before and it took a while for me to deal with it.
“I was quite down at first, but when I came back to England I had good people around me who helped me every day.
“The medical staff and my team-mates all helped me get through it and I’m really grateful for their support.”
Bytyqi played the final half-hour of the victory over the Saints – the first game under the tenure of head coach Simon Davies.
“It was a good result because there’s been quite a few changes in the last month or so and it’s always good to get off to a winning start,” said Bytyqi.
“We played really well at the beginning and established an early lead but got a bit sloppy after that so it was good to finish strongly and secure three points.”
