The Kosovan international forward enjoyed a season to remember by any standard, with his excellent performances in the Under-21 Premier League earning him a debut for the first-team.
Celina made his bow in the FA Cup third round win over Norwich City in January and went on to make three more appearances for Manuel Pellegrini’s side, including a first Premier League substitute appearance against Leicester City where he made an assist for Sergio Aguero.
The 19-year old was further rewarded with a new three-year deal at the end of the season following a truly remarkable campaign, which has been topped off with this award which was voted for by the fans.
Speaking to CityTV through Facebook Live, he declared: “First of all, I want to thank all the fans that voted for me. There’s a lot of amazing talent at this football club so it’s an honour for me.
“It was a really good season for me and for the team. I played with the Under-21s for almost the full season and scored some nice goals.
“Without the team and the amazing players around me, I couldn’t have done it.
“I got my chance with the first-team and I was really happy I got the opportunity to play and show how good I am.”
The starlet was given another chance to showcase his talents, joining the first-team on their pre-season tour of China - Pep Guardiola’s first tour as City boss.
Celina expressed his gratitude to be able to work with such an influential figure in world football.
He explained: “We went to China and played Bayern Munich. I was involved in that and I was thankful to have the chance to play with such a big team and a great manager.
“We had a good pre-season - we worked really hard. The team is fit and I am as well.”
