EDS right-back James Horsfield believes City have to be ready to face a whole new challenge when they come up against Arsenal on Friday night.

After victory against a physical Derby side on Monday night to start their season, Simon Davies’ team come up against a Gunners side known for their attractive style but Horsfield feels the team are ready.

He said: “We’ve done quite a lot of work on Arsenal during the week. We know they’ll be a different challenge to Derby, who were a big set of lads, whereas Arsenal are a team with a lot of technical ability so we’ve prepared and we think we’re ready.

“It should be an entertaining game for fans. We always look to play the ball well, going long at the right times but trying to keep the ball as much as possible. That’s our philosophy and we won’t change.”

Taking place in the Etihad Stadium, Horsfield believes Friday’s match has added excitement for both fans and players.

“It’s brilliant to play in the Etihad Stadium. It’s everyone’s goal to play there every week so we’re hoping to get a little taste of what it’s like and all the lads are looking forward to playing there.”

City’s EDS face Arsenal in the reformed Premier League 2 at the Etihad Stadium at 19:00 on Friday 19 August. Ticket details are here.
