The young Blues trail Manchester United by 13 points and are currently in third position, but the 19 year-old says with 21 points still to play for, City will head to bottom-placed Norwich City looking to make ground on the Reds on Friday evening.
However, Faupala added that the Blues will not be underestimating the Canaries, particularly with the game being played at Carrow Road.
“Every game at Under-21 level is difficult so we are expecting another difficult match,” said Faupala. “We are looking forward to playing in their first team stadium and it’s always better for us to have this kind of opportunity.
“We are trying to improve and finish the season strongly so we need to go to Norwich and win. We played them earlier in the season and it was a close game, so we know this won’t be easy.”
City beat United 1-0 in their last league outing but were knocked out of the UEFA Youth League against Real Madrid a few days later.
Faupala is one of several EDS players who were promoted to the first team during the Blues’ FA Cup tie at Chelsea.
He admits the experience has given all the youngsters added incentive to shine at Under-21 level and possibly win further opportunities with the senior squad.
“It was a great day for all of us to be able to play, but the result wasn’t good for us. We are all focused but are only think of the next game and doing our best.”
Faupala, who joined City from Lens last summer, admits it took time for him to settle in Manchester but is now feeling at home and settled.
His performance at Chelsea where he marked his debut with a goal, has also raised his profile with City fans keen to learn more about the French youth star.
“It wasn’t easy changing countries and learning a new language,” he said. “But now I feel much better and more settled. It’s all about taking things step by step.
“I was very happy to score against Chelsea and that’s given me even more motivation to work harder and maybe have more chances to be involved with the senior squad.
“It was a good experience to play against defenders like Cahill and Ivanovic. My brother and his friend came to watch the game and my parents watched the match on TV.
“As I say, I hope I can play again before the end of the season but I will be working hard for the EDS in the meantime and see where that takes me.”
