After an excellent October in which Man City won all three matches and Paolo Fernandes was named as Player of the Month, Simon Davies’ side will be looking to extend their form.
Who in the Everton squad is most capable of stopping Man City’s excellent run and which City players will be tasked with stopping them?
Tom Davies v Sadou Diallo
Davies is something of a free spirit on the pitch. His long, blonde hair and low-sitting socks may make him appear more like a member of a band than a footballer but give him a pocket of space and he can wreak havoc.
That makes his imminent battle with Sadou Diallo a duel of contrasts.
City’s defensive midfielder has shone so far this season due to his discipline and tactical awareness.
He’ll be hoping to shackle another creative midfielder on Sunday as he has already done to so many this season while remaining composed in order to start City’s attacks.
Brahim Diaz v Callum Connolly
With the return to fitness of striker Lukas Nmecha, Diaz may soon return to his more familiar attacking midfield role.
However, after his man of the match performance in the number nine role last time out against Liverpool, the Spaniard could be tasked with occupying the central defenders again in this top-of-the-table clash.
If he is to be the spearhead of City’s attack, Diaz will likely face another versatile operator in Callum Connolly.
After a first-team appearance at the end of the 2015/16 season and a loan spell at Barnsley, Connolly is well versed in the ways of the game and he’ll be looking to use all his know-how to stop Diaz.
