Manchester City EDS boss Simon Davies has praised the outlook of City’s first team hopefuls who have stepped in to his side at crucial points this season.

Angus Gunn, Tosin Adarabioyo, Pablo Maffeo and Angelino are all part of Pep Guardiola’s squad but have appeared in some Premier League 2 fixtures to retain match sharpness.

Davies believes the mind-set of the stars, who have helped City to the top of the Premier League 2 table, shows why they are so well liked by Guardiola.

He said: “Sometimes at other clubs, you get first team players playing for the second team and their attitude isn’t what it should be but we’ve never had that here.

“The likes of Pablo, Angus, Tosin and Angelino come in and do themselves a lot of credit.”

“They are part of the first team squad but we have a plan to keep pushing the boys and make sure they are ready for when they are called upon to step up.

“It’s an encouraging position that they are in as to be working with the manager on a daily basis shows that he really likes them.”

In terms of their roles within the side, Davies knows he can trust the players despite the fact they rarely train with the current crop of Elite Development Squad players.

He said: “I trust them to fit in perfectly. First, under Patrick Vieira they were learning the way to play at this club and they impressed so much that it gave them the chance to be part of the first team.

“They know they way we press aggressively and build up from the back so it shouldn’t affect us even though they aren’t training with us every day.

“Secondly, probably the reason they are with the first team, they all have fantastic attitudes.”

Davies’ team travel to Everton in the Premier League 2 on the 20 November before welcoming Chelsea to the Academy Stadium on the 26 November.
