Both Ambrose and Boadu have missed most of 2016 so far through injury but their second half introductions to this match gave City a much needed boost.
Davies was delighted to see the pair returning to action, stating: “Thierry and Denzeil [Boadu] have both been a credit to themselves.
“They faced potentially career threatening injuries but they have been so professional while they were out that it helped our medical team to get them back to full fitness.
“It’s a nice day for them, especially Thierry, and we’re delighted to have them back.”
After Cameron Humphreys was sent off with just over ten minutes remaining, City were reduced to a defensive mantra and looked likely to hold out until Mount’s late equaliser.
Davies, however, insisted it was a fair result.
He said: “Three matches in six days has been very challenging for the players but it’s something they are preparing for if they are going to play in the Premier League.
“We played really well in the first half but Chelsea were equally good in the second half so a draw was the fair result. When you’re 2-1 up with a few minutes to go you’d like to see it through but the sending off made it very hard for us.
“When you consider that we played the last ten minutes with 10 men and the lads were jaded after so much effort this week, you can see why we conceded late.
A host of players officially part of the first team squad including Aleix Garcia, Pablo Maffeo, Angelino and Tosin Adarabioyo played for Davies’ side and the coach was delighted to have them with the squad.
He said: “The main thing with all the players at the club is that they need the games. They’re in a very good position but they have to make sure they have enough games to compete for that first team spot so these matches are about putting them there.”
