Manchester City EDS boss Simon Davies believes City’s upcoming fixtures with Chelsea and Everton will have a big role in deciding where they finish in the Premier League 2 table.

City travel to Aldershot Town’s Recreation Ground on Saturday to face Chelsea before welcoming Everton to the Academy Stadium on Friday 3 March.

Speaking on the pressure involved in the matches, Davies said: “We’ve got two matches coming up in the Premier League against Chelsea and Everton that could have a big say in whether we finish in first or fourth.

“We have to stay focused ahead of these matches now to make sure we’re building on our good work throughout the season.”

Davies is concentrated on the Chelsea trip first and he knows just how difficult it will be against the side currently in fourth in the Premier League 2 table.

“They’re similar to us in terms of pushing younger players through and having a lower average age than most of the other teams in the league so the way we work is very similar,” said Davies.

“They’re always good games between ourselves and Chelsea and many of these players have played in the last two Youth Cup finals between the two clubs, which means there will be a lot of good players on the pitch.”
