Manchester City will face Derby County on Wednesday evening and here’s all you need to know ahead of the Premier League Cup tie.

When and where?

Derby County will travel north for the Premier League Cup tie at the AJ Bell Stadium, home of Salford City Reds and Sale Sharks. Kick-off is 7pm on Wednesday 25 January.

Last meeting

City went to Derby’s Pride Park on the 21st December 2016 for their second match in the group stage of the Premier League Cup.

A hat-trick from Isaac Buckley-Ricketts and strikes from Joe Hardy and Brahim Diaz saw City to a 5-1 hammering of their hosts.

Group position

City currently sit in third place in Group C with three points, from their victory over Derby, from three matches. Derby are bottom of the table with just one point. Colchester lead the group with seven points while Hull City have six points in second.

Who to look out for

City will be happy to see striker Charles Vernam has joined Coventry City on loan. The youngster has already found the net three times against Simon Davies’ side this season following a brace in August before a consolation goal in December’s defeat.

In Vernam’s absence, Derby boss Darren Wassall may be looking to 20-year-old Mason Bennett to provide the goal threat.
