EDS manager Simon Davies believes that Wednesday’s Checkatrade Trophy clash against Chesterfield will give the squad a chance to smooth over any problems from their previous clash.

City recently secured a 4-2 win over Tottenham in the Premier League 2 after initially trailing 2-0 behind in the first-half, and the boss thinks their upcoming game will be another test for the squad.

The EDS currently sit at the bottom of their Northern Group F below Bradford, Rotherham United and upcoming opponents Chesterfield.

“We’ve got their footage as normal, and again it’s another challenge,” Davies told mancity.com. “So actually the things we could’ve done better against Tottenham at the weekend will get tested on Wednesday.

“We will be playing against men, so that’s going to be a strong suit of theirs – their set-piece situation and in terms of just being physical all over the park.

“The only negatives from Tottenham’s game are only going to be apparent if we don’t work and smooth over those aspects for Wednesday night.”

Saturday’s hat-trick hero Lukas Nmecha also spoke about the challenge of playing a first team.

“I think the lads are confident,” the centre-forward explained ahead of the game. “It’s a first team so we are going to have to move the ball quicker as they’ll be a lot bigger than us - but we’re not too worried about that.”
