Brahim Diaz has been nominated for the Premier League 2 Player of the Month award for September.

The young Spaniard is one of eight players on the shortlist and earned his inclusion after netting two goals in three games for Simon Davies’ young side.

Both of those strikes came against Sunderland at the Etihad Stadium as the 18-year-old rescued a point for the 10-man Blues, who played with a man less for 85 minutes.

His first came via the penalty spot, whilst the second was a stunning piece of individual brilliance.

Afforded a yard of space in the penalty area, Diaz picked his spot to perfection to curl the ball into the top right corner.

The monthly shortlist was selected by a panel of the Premier League Football Development Department after PL2 clubs nominated the best individual performance from each of their opponents during the month.

City’s midfielder is up against the likes of Callum Hudson-Odoi (Chelsea), Hamza Choudhury (Leicester City) and Harry Wilson (Liverpool), with the selection panel set to reveal the winner next week.

Good luck, Brahim!
