The Stockport-born teenager continued his sensational form with a brace for England during their 5-2 victory over Spain in India, while his Club mates Joel Latibeaudiere (captain) and Curtis Anderson also played the full match.
Foden was awarded the Golden Ball award for the player of the tournament after a string of superb displays.
Rhian Brewster, Morgan Gibbs-White and Marc Guehi were also on target in a phenomenal comeback win in Kolkata.
Foden said after the win: “We knew we were capable of coming back.
“We just needed to stay calm and play our football.
“We didn’t get the best start but we got in at half-time, got the team together and came out firing in the second half.”
Spain led 2-0 in the first half before Brewster grabbed one back for England on the brink of the half-time whistle.
The Young Lions returned after the break oozing fire and passion, and Foden was able to display his dazzling skills when he found Sessegnon, who fired a shot across the box in time for Gibbs-White to score from close range and make it 2-2.
Foden began the comeback for England with a third strike before Guehi grabbed the fourth with an assist from Latibeaudiere.
Finally, in the 88th minute Foden sealed the fate of the Under 17s showdown with the fifth and final goal of the match to create history.
Pep Guardiola said: “I am so happy for our young players. Phil Foden has been with us since the beginning of pre-season he has played many games and he’s been training with us every day. He’s a Mancunian, he loves to play for Manchester City and of course, we are going to try and help him achieve everything he wants to do.
“He’s our player and is definitely one for the future and I’m happy for him, for all our players and for England because it is so important to win these titles and these players will grow and they will have this experience to draw upon.”
What an achievement, well done to the Young Lions!
