The 20-year-old defender, who was back with Simon Davies’ side for the second time this season, believes the young Blues let themselves down against their Merseyside rivals.
A 3-0 scoreline would suggest a comfortable evening for the Toffees.
Yet City created chances and Adarabioyo says it was an evening on which the home side failed to perform, rather than being outplayed by the opposition.
And like his manager, the centre-half was frustrated they allowed Everton to get away with things they had worked on the training ground to prevent.
“We were all very disappointed with our performance and the result,” he said, explaining the mood in the dressing room after the match.
“The end result didn’t really reflect the chances that we created, so we’re very disappointed.”
“We knew what Everton were about and how they’d set up.
“We let them play their game and counter-attack and score the goals they did and then we didn’t take the chances we created.
“We didn’t perform to the level we know we can and we didn’t fight the way we know we can.
“That’s why we’ve ended up with this result.”
Meanwhile, before kick off Davies spoke glowingly of Adarabioyo’s presence in the squad, suggesting his maturity, professionalism and humbleness are invaluable in what is a young side.
The Manchester-born defender has spent the majority of the season with the first team and made his first EDS appearance in the previous Premier League 2 fixture against Swansea.
Unsurprisingly for a man of his character, he’s more than happy to help those younger than himself and believes the playing time in the EDS will only aid him.
“The lads are a few years younger than me so I just try and help them as much as I can,” he added.
“Getting as many minutes under my belt is vital so if I do get an opportunity with the first team then I’m ready and have enough minutes in my legs to go and perform.
“I’m really enjoying training with the manager and I’m learning every day so hopefully I can get an opportunity soon.”
