Ben Knight has been nominated for the Premier League 2 (PL2) Player of the Month award for January.

The Manchester City EDS winger has been selected by the league’s Football Development Panel after all PL2 coaches were asked to pick the standout performance by an opposing player.

Knight started all three games last month, as Paul Harsley’s side secured important wins over Liverpool and Everton to move up to ninth in the table, producing a particularly impressive performance against the Reds.

The 17-year-old has one goal to his name from his 10 PL2 appearances this season and will find out whether he has won the Player of the Month award in the next fortnight.

Knight is up against Faustino Anjorin (Chelsea), Liam Cullen (Swansea City), Shae Hutchinson (Norwich City), Admiral Muskwe (Leicester City), Matthew Smith (Arsenal), Rayhaan Tulloch (West Bromwich Albion).
