Attilio Lombardo’s Elite Development Squad travel to London on Monday to take on Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.

The Blues held onto third place in the Barclays U21 Premier League despite losing their unbeaten record to Fulham last Monday.

One of the positives to take from the 1-0 defeat to the Cottagers last time out was the performance of Marcos Lopes, the Portuguese forward who was a constant menace in the first half. He will be expected to retain his place in the first XI for this, the team’s latest trip to the capital.

City will also be able to call upon the services of George Evans, Jeremy Helan and Denis Suarez who were all in the first-team squad for Tuesday’s Capital One Cup defeat to Aston Villa.

However, Lombardo will be without leading scorer Jordi Hiwula who is currently on international duty with England u19s in Estonia. Alex Nimley is expected to lead the line in Jordi’s absence.

Bottom of the table Palace come into the match off the back of a confidence restoring 2-2 draw with Chelsea and this encounter at Selhurst Park should be an interesting indicator as to where both teams are at this season.
