City EDS travel to Italy without Denis Suarez and Jordy Hiwula who both remain injury concerns but that means opportunity knocks for a clutch of youngsters.
Dominic McHale could be included after his impressive return from injury for the under-18s, while the trio of 16-year olds Olivier Ntcham, Jose Angel Pozo and Marcos Lopes have all made the trip to take on the Old Lady.
George Evans returns to the EDS fold after making the substitute bench for City’s first team games against Ajax and Swansea and Karim Rekik is expected to get minutes as he continues his rehabilitation from injury.
Lombardo made 35 appearances for Juventus in a two-year spell in Turin but he’s keen to deflect any attention this connection might bring.
“I know them, they work very well and they’ve put a big investment into their youth academy,” Lombardo said, “It is a good experience for us, not for me to go back to Italy but for my guys.”
“I think this will be a great game and an important one for us as we would like to get a result.”
City need a win to keep hopes alive of making the latter stages of the competition, they currently have four points from their opening three games, having beaten and drawn with Fenerbahce and lost to PSG.
