The Reserves enjoyed a resounding 5-1 win over Stockport County at Carrington this afternoon in their opening Manchester Senior Cup match.
The game, originally scheduled as a training-ground friendly, was watched by manager Mark Hughes among others and Glyn Hodges’ youngsters responded with a convincing performance.
Adam Clayton put City ahead on five minutes and Ben Mee doubled the lead after ten with a set-piece header before Jack Redshaw cut in from the left to score a third after 28 minutes.
Alex Nimely went through the middle to lift one over the Stockport keeper after 32 minutes and James Poole completed the Blues’ haul from 12 yards after 84 minutes. County scored two minutes from time.
