A goal from Courtney Meppen-Walter in the dying minutes of the first half put the Blues ahead, but a hard-working Juventus side eventually found a way through a solid City defence as the game drew to a close.
Both sets of players deserve much credit for enduring extremely difficult conditions at the Stadio Giuseppe Moccagatta as heavy rain pounded the pitch for the full 90 minutes.
With the excess water causing all sorts of problems, and attempts to dribble and pass continually bogged down in midfield, a set piece looked the most viable route to goal.
That moment arrived for the Blues just before the half time whistle when Meppen-Walter got on the end of a Marco Lopes corner and headed home from close range.
Juventus began the second half the way they ended the first, piling the pressure on City and had an opportunity to level the score when they were awarded a penalty after a hand ball by Kieran Kennedy.
A terrific save from City’s Ian Lawlor prevented Juventus captain Andrea Schiavone from levelling the score, but it was a temporary reprieve.
The home team did eventually find a break through via Daniele Rugani who found himself in the right position to head home from a rebounded effort off the crossbar on 84 minutes.
A nervy six minutes followed for Attilio Lombardo’s side as both sides chased the win. But in the end it was a fair result which leaves City level on points with ‘The Old Lady’ and still in contention in Group 2.
