This club-wide never-say-die ethos was on full display in City Elite Development Squad’s opening game of the 2014/15 season at Southampton FC.
Behind twice to goals from Saints striker Marcus Barnes in the 45th and 63rd minutes, Patrick Vieira’s side rallied and came back from the dead twice to snatch a 2-2 draw.
Bersant Celina clipped home a brilliant free-kick to make it 1-1 shortly after half-time before Thierry Ambrose rose highest to head home in the last minute of stoppage time to clinch what had long looked like an unlikely point.
It was the Frenchman’s first competitive goal since his lengthy injury lay-off which curtailed his 2014/15 season and what a time to score it!
We’ll have highlights of the game on mcfc.co.uk in the coming days.
City EDS are next in action against Spurs at City Football Academy on Friday afternoon at 1pm.
