How did we qualify?

Success in the 2022/23 Champions League earned us our place at this tournament.

We’re one of 12 European sides, joining six South American teams, five from North America, four from each of Africa and Asia and one from Oceania.

Chelsea, who are there after winning the 2020/21 Champions League, are the only other English side.

Outside of Chelsea, City and Real Madrid (winners of the Champions League in 2022 and 2024), the remaining UEFA slots were allocated to the nine sides with the best cumulative coefficient over the four-year qualification period.

This has been a similar process on other continents, with Champions League winners generally qualifying

Full draw

Group A: Palmeiras, Porto, Al Ahly, Inter Miami

Group B: Paris Saint-Germain, Atletico Madrid, Botafogo, Seattle Sounders

Group C: Bayern Munich, Auckland City, Boca Juniors, Benfica

Group D: Flamengo, ES Tunis, Chelsea, LAFC

Group E: River Plate, Urawa Red Diamonds, CF Monterrey, Inter

Group F: Fluminense, Borussia Dortmund, Ulsan HD, Mamelodi Sundowns

Group G: Manchester City, Wydad AC, Al Ain FC, Juventus

Group H: Real Madrid, Al Hilal, CF Pachuca, RB Salzburg

Format explained

The format will follow the model of recent FIFA World Cup for international sides, with 32 teams split into eight groups of four.

The top two teams in each group will progress to a Round of 16 where single-match knockout ties will be played all the way to the final.

Should we go through as group winner, we will play the runner-up in Group H. If we’re runners-up, we will face the Group H winner.

Should the knockout matches be tied, extra time and penalties will be used to decide who advances to the next stage.

There will be no third-place play off played.

What kits will City play in?

City will debut two new kits in the US during this summer’s FIFA Club World Cup.

We will wear the 2025/26 PUMA Home kit as first choice during the tournament, with the goalkeeper sporting the new pink jersey unveiled in May.

Our new KidSuper shirt will be the alternative option this summer, alongside the orange base goalkeeper top.

This special edition kit will only be worn during this summer, with a fresh look to follow as our away kit for the 2025/26 domestic season.

          Trophy

With a 24-carat gold-plated finish, the trophy has multiple laser-engraved inscriptions all over, telling the story of football’s history, 13 languages, Braille and a world map, highlighting the spread and inclusivity of the global game.
