Roberto Mancini admits he can’t understand how the Blues ended up losing against Lech Poznan after the Polish side grabbed two late goals in a grandstand finish

City had been much the better team for long periods and looked set to go and win after Emmanuel Adebayor levelled early in the second half, but it was the home team who ended up taking three points.

“I am disappointed because we didn’t deserve to lose this game,” said Mancini. “Right now, nothing is going our way and we are very unlucky.

We played a good game and had a number of chances to score in the first half, but things are not running for us at the moment

“We have lost our last three games and I don’t feel we deserved to lose any of them, but sometimes these things happen – this is football and it can be cruel sometimes.

“Lech Poznan are a good team, but I think they were very lucky on this occasion and this was a very strange game and I think 99 times out of a hundred, we would have won this match.

“We had more chances and were unfortunate overall, but we are still level at the top of the group and fourth in the Premier League so we can build on what we have achieved so far.

“If we win our next game against Salzburg, we will go through to the next stage. It is important we now focus on winning that match.

“We must pay more attention when we play and concentrate and though this is a difficult period for us, if we stick together and work hard we can back on track quickly.”
