City take on Pep Guardiola’s side at the Allianz Arena this evening in a bid to win a second prestigious pre-season tournament.

Tthe Blues, fresh from a 5-3 win over AC Milan, will face last season’s Champions League winners in front of a sell-out 68,000 crowd after Bayern comfortably saw off the challenge of Sao Paulo in the second semi-final last night.

Manuel Pellegrini is likely to rotate his squad this evening which could mean starts for Gael Clichy, Pablo Zabaleta, Samir Nasri, Gareth Barry, James Milner and Alvaro Negredo – among others.

Stevan Jovetic will hope to see some part of the match after his superb debut and Jesus Navas, also substituted at half-time, should see some game time, too.

Skipper Vincent Kompany, rested during the win over Milan as a precaution after picking up a slight knock, trained this morning and should feature along with Dedryck Boyata.

Edin Dzeko will hope to continue his rich vein of form with four goals in the last three pre-season games after admitting the praise and belief shown by his new boss has made him feel on top of the world.

“I’m happier and it’s hard to explain but I just feel really good,” he said. “When the manager shows such faith in you, of course it makes a huge difference.”

The last time the Blues faced Bayern at the Allianz was back in 2011 in the Champions League when the hosts won 2-0.

It proved to be a night of controversy that would eventually see Carlos Tevez suspended by the Club after refusing to warm up.

City won the return group match 2-0, but the victory was ultimately in vain as Munich and Napoli progressed to the knock-out stages.

Mario Gotze and Thiago are both doubtful for Bayern while the Blues have no fresh injury concerns. The third place play-off will be contested between Sao Paulo and AC Milan.

We will have all the post-match reaction here on mcfc.co.uk as well as regular updates on our official Twitter and Facebook channels.

And don’t forget that it is just a week before supporters will get the chance to get up close and personal with all our new signings, Manuel Pellegrini and the rest of the squad at the City Live season launch show.

Tickets are still available for the event that will see a host of player awards dished out plus live sets from Jason Manford and Miles Kane. It’s the season launch party no City fan can afford to miss.
