Martyn Margeston
West Neath’s Martyn Margetson began his career at City, signing on as a YTS trainee at the age of 18, although the goalkeeper would find his exposure to first-team football at Maine Road limited by Tony Coton.
Margetson debuted in May 1980 but would only appear 50 times for the Blues until he finally left for Southend United in 1998.
Four years later he finished off a 17-year playing career at Cardiff City where he spent the majority of a five-year spell as back-up to Neil Alexander.
Roy Clark
With 370 appearances to his name between 1946 and 1958, Roy Clarke is one of the club’s most decorated players.
Clarke started out on his playing career at Cardiff City where he was fielded as an outside left and played an integral role in the Bluebirds gaining promotion to Division Three in 1947.
He joined City to a fee of £12,000 that year and during the course his decade at Maine Road the Welsh winger won the FA Cup in 1956 as a teammate of Bert Trautmann and Don Revie.
Willo Flood
Another graduate of our Platt Lane Academy to represent both Cardiff and Manchester City is midfielder Willo Flood who now plies his trade for Aberdeen north of the border.
Flood made his debut in the first ever competitive game at the Etihad Stadium in the win over TNS a decade ago but only went on to amass 14 appearances in his three seasons in and around the first-team.
After loan spells at Rochdale and Coventry City, Flood joined Cardiff permanently and played 25 times, scoring one goal.
Kelvin Etuhu
City Academy graduate Kelvin Etuhu made his debut for the club against Norwich City on 25 September 2007 and marked it by setting up the winning goal for Georgios Samaras.
First-team chances would prove to be hard to be come by for the Nigeria-born midfielder, so he went out on loan three times over the course of his seven years at City.
The last of those loan spells was a season-long stay at Cardiff where Kelvin made 16 appearances, showing enough promise to convince Portsmouth to take him to Fratton Park permanently in 2012.
Andy Dibble
Cwmbran-born stopper Andy Dibble enjoyed a long and diverse career taking in more than 20 different clubs in the UK but he spent more time at City than anywhere else.
Dibble was at Maine Road between 1988 and 1997 and turned out on 136 occasions after his debut away to Hull City on 27 August 1988.
He started his 24-year playing career at Cardiff where he made his first-team debut as a 17-year old – the first of 62 games for the Bluebirds.
