Yaya Toure has spoken of the need for City to replicate this season’s magnificent home form in upcoming matches on the road.

The Blues have put in some mouth-watering performances to earn a flawless record at the Etihad Stadium in the league, but away results have been mixed.

After two consecutive home matches in the league in which Manuel Pellegrini’s men have scored nine without reply, City now face trips to West Brom and Southampton in the space of four days.

The Ivorian midfielder, voted BBC African Player of the Year, has underlined the importance of maintaining a winning run as City aim to prove title credentials.

“We need to start from somewhere to get the win,” said Yaya. “We have two away games, West Brom and then Southampton, which will be quite a hard game.

“It’s a big test for us because we need to change this run and try to be at the top.

“These couple of weeks we have shown how strong we are at home, but in this Premier League you have to do the business away as well.

“We have to stay close to the big rivals. Arsenal and Chelsea are doing well and they win away as well as home, that’s the difference.

“I hope the team can do well against West Brom and Southampton and I think it’s going to be fine.

“Our captain Vincent Kompany is coming back and everything will settle down.”

As well as missing the injured skipper, the Blues have also been without the creative talents of David Silva in recent matches, but Yaya was quick to highlight the impact of Samir Nasri as part of City’s attacking prowess.

The Frenchman is having an outstanding season, and a man of the match performance against Viktoria Plzen was followed by a brace in the clash with Swansea on Sunday.

Toure believes his teammate has been given greater freedom to express himself on the pitch, and City are now reaping the rewards.

“This year we have Samir doing very well. I think we have missed David Silva a bit as well, but Samir is unbelievable, an incredible player,” he declared.

“He made a fantastic impact against Swansea and scored two fantastic goals.

“This year we play more attacking, the focus of the team is on attack. The team play very well together and Samir has his freedom.

...Yaya on Nasri...

“When you look at him playing before at Arsenal, he has this same freedom now. Pellegrini allows players like him to attack and enjoy this freedom and it’s fantastic for him and the club.”
