City remained unbeaten in January and there are five strong contenders for the Etihad Player of the Month award.

Here are the five nominees:

Javi Garcia: The Spanish holding midfielder has taken his chance of regular first-team football following Yaya Toure’s enforced absence.  Impressive throughout the month, he showed his versatility when he switched to the centre of defence against Stoke and won man-of-the-match honours in the same role against QPR.

Joe Hart: Six successive clean sheets speaks for itself and going into the Liverpool match, Joe had not been beaten in goal for more than nine hours of match-action. At a time when Joe was under the media spotlight suggesting he wasn’t having his best season, January proved the perfect riposte.

Pablo Zabaleta: Man of the moment Pablo Zabaleta had another solid month in January and is looking for a second successive Etihad Player of the Month award. He began the year with a goal against Stoke and added another against the Potters in the FA Cup to send the Blues into the last 16. He was also part of a defence that conceded no goals at all!

James Milner: A productive month for the industrious midfielder during which he assisted three goals and scored a stunning effort himself in the2-0 win at Arsenal.  Another strong candidate for the January award.

David Silva: A regular contender for the monthly gong, Silva was at his magical best in several of the matches during January. He scored two goals against Fulham and won a penalty against Watford as well as being an integral part in several other goals.

Voting closes at noon on February 11 and one UK-based entrant will be drawn at random to present the award in person to the winner. One overseas entrant will receive a personal video message from the winner, too.
