Reece Wabara signed off his loan at Oldham Athletic in style by scoring what turned out to be the winning goal against Liverpool in the FA Cup fourth round.

Wabara has now returned to City, but was able to help the Latics and their manager, ex-Blue Paul Dickov, to complete a famous giant-killing by winning 3-2 at Boundary Park to eliminate the Reds.

Absolutely buzzing fans were magnificent aswell as the players! And a goal for me :D great day at the office

Dickov is our special dinner guest alongside Dietmar Hamann at the Etihad Stadium on 31 January.

Elsewhere, Roque Santa Cruz continued his spell at Malaga with a goal against Barcelona in the Copa del Rey quarter-final last Thursday, although he couldn’t prevent Messi and Co from advancing in the competition to face Real Madrid in the next round.

He followed it up with 90 minutes in a 3-2 victory over Mallorca at the weekend.

Wayne Bridge played a full game as  Brighton & Hove Albion were narrowly beaten 3-2 by Arsenal at the Amex Stadium in the FA Cup.

Adam Drury also featured for 90 minutes as Burton Albion beat Barnet 1-0 in League 2. The youngster is due to return to City on 4 February.

Meanwhile, Ryan McGivern played 45 minutes in Hibernian’s 0-0 draw away to Aberdeen, but was withdrawn at half time after suffering a hamstring strain. Luca Scapuzzi was on the pitch for 60 minutes of A S Varese’s 2-1 defeat to Virtus Lanciano.
