A tricky away tie at Crystal Palace or Stoke City in the fourth round of the FA Cup is City's reward for the 3-0 win over Watford.

The Eagles and the Potters played out a goalless draw at Selhurst Park on Saturday and will meet for a replay at the Britannia Stadium on a date and time yet to be decided.

With Stoke City favourites to prevail over the Ian Holloway’s men in the replay, this draw could present an opportunity for 2011’s beaten finalists to exact a measure of revenge on the Premier League champions.

Roberto Mancini certainly wouldn’t relish another trip to the Britannia Stadium, having remarked after September’s 1-1 draw there: “It was difficult last year and the season before – it always is – but we have taken a point and it is over now.

“It is normal that top sides don’t find it easy coming to Stoke and that isn’t going to change this year.”

You have to go back to 1981 for an FA Cup meeting between City and Crystal Palace and on that occasion the Blues triumphed with a convincing 4-0 win at Maine Road on the way to the Wembley final.

City’s last meeting with Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park came in the League Cup back in 2009 in a game that will be remembered for Carlos Tevez scoring his first goal for the club in a 2-0 win.

Ticket details will follow once our opposition for the fourth round has been confirmed.

The tie will take place on the weekend of 26 January 2013.
