Matija Nastasic stresses his heart is set on ending his first season with City with some silverware.

After being rested for the Blues’ Premier League clash with Stoke, the 19-year-old is hoping he will be back in the starting 11 for City’s third round FA Cup tie with Championship side Watford.

“Of course it is very important for us to win; we want to win every competition we take part in,” the defender declared.

“It is important that we try our best to win this competition as well as retain the Premier League title. I grew up watching the FA Cup and I’ve seen many games in the competition before.

“We all know that on the day anything can happen, so it is important that we are at our best.”

If the Serbia international is involved on Saturday, it will mark his first FA Cup appearance - something he says he would relish.

“I would be very happy. I always want to do my best and do the best I can for the team and that is what I will continue to do. Our main objective is to win on Saturday and to continue to go forward in this competition,” he said.

Obviously it is also important that we can make it a special occasion for the fans and families who will be supporting us.

...Matija Nastasic...

Nastasic was speaking after picking up the Etihad Player of the Month award for November after a more than impressive start to his City career.

Roberto Mancini has put his trust in the young centre half, handing him 12 starts since signing with the Blues in August.

“I am very happy with this award, particularly because it comes from the fans. When it comes from them it makes me really happy,” he smiled.

“I am very happy here at the club and everything is going well for me, so I am very pleased.”
