The Spain international thinks having the rub of the green could prove vital as Roberto Mancini’s side relentlessly pursue neighbours United in the title race.
“In the last few games it’s not that we’ve improved particularly, it’s just that we’ve had that touch of fortune which maybe we weren’t getting earlier on, like in the United game, when they scored a lucky goal in the last minute,” said Silva.
“We are playing well and doing the right things, and then we are getting those moments of good fortune going our way, now.
All we can do, whatever the gap is, is keep going, every game, and put them under the pressure of knowing that if they lose a game or drop any points, we will get closer to them

“That works the other way, of course, too, because if we lose we will get further away, but we cannot think about that. If we lose, suddenly the gap is 10 points and that is when it gets really difficult.
“But we will keep fighting and hope that they will falter. We just have to continue as we are. The league is still there to be won.
“The important thing is the next game. That is always the most important thing. Of course, we hope United stumble, because it will let us be closer.
“The fact we are out of Europe could work in our favour because they have a huge game against Real Madrid coming up, but we’ll have to wait and see.”
Silva was pleased with Sunday’s win over Arsenal and while he believes the dismissal of Koscielny so early in the game helped matters, he also thinks City were dominating the game before the hosts were reduced to ten men.
“We started the game well, even when both sides had 11 players,” he noted. “We were attacking, and obviously when their player was sent off that made it easier for us.
“But we played really well and even when Vincent was sent off later we saw the game out to get three points from a place where it’s really difficult for any team to come.”
