City’s squad have had the honour of meeting Nelson Mandela’s grandson while on pre-season tour in South Africa.
During a welcome reception at the team hotel in Pretoria, the players were introduced to Ndaba Mandela and presented him with a Manchester City shirt ahead of the Blues’ clash with SuperSport United at the city’s Loftus Versfeld Stadium.
The number 67 was printed on the signed jersey, recognising the number of years Nelson Mandela spent fighting for peace in South Africa.
The players also had the opportunity to leave a personal message for the former South African president on a large birthday card as ‘Madiba’ approaches his 95th birthday.
A minute’s applause will be observed for Nelson Mendela on the 67th minute of the game against SuperSport.
