After a very enjoyable and successful trip to South Africa, the Manchester City squad said farewell to Durban and hello to Hong Kong!

Cries of ‘City, City,’ could be heard as we stepped off the plane at Hong Kong International airport and approached a large crowd of Blues fans who had gathered to greet us.

Representatives from the Premier League were also there to meet the team as co-ordinators of the Barclay’s Asia Trophy which gets underway on Wednesday when City face South China at the impressive Hong Kong Stadium.

The day’s other semi-final fixture will feature Tottenham Hotspur and Sunderland, with the final and third place playoff taking place on Saturday - bringing to an end this leg of the tour.

Despite a 13 hour flight from Durban, there was little time for rest after touchdown, with an early evening training session scheduled at the nearby Hong Kong stadium.

With the manager still absent due to family reasons, Brian Kidd put the players through their paces in very warm and humid conditions in downtown Hong Kong.

For the first time since May the full squad, plus new additions, was together with David Silva, Jesus Navas, Alvaro Negredo and Stevan Jovetic all reporting for duty.

Upon arrival back at the team hotel, The Premier League staged a welcome reception to officially greet the three EPL clubs taking part in this year’s competition.

It was an opportunity for players, staff and management to mingle before many sought some much needed shut eye!

We will be with the team every step of the way here in Hong Kong, with news of training, events and of course, match coverage. So make sure you stay tuned to mcfc.co.uk for all the latest from the Far East.
