City will begin the 2013/14 season with an historic home game against Newcastle United – a team the Blues have never faced on the opening day before.

Alan Pardew’s men have failed to beat City in their last 13 attempts - either at the Etihad or St James’ Park - and the Blues have won the last five home matches against the Magpies and Manuel Pellegrini will be hoping that runs continues in his first game in charge.

There’s another first for City in the second game of the season with a debut trip to the Cardiff City Stadium to face – you guessed it – Cardiff City, in the first of successive games against promoted sides. Steve Bruce’s Hull City visit the Etihad on the final day of August.

And there isn’t long to wait for the first Manchester derby with the Blues hosting David Moyes’ United on 21 September – though after the TV schedules have been decided, it’s likely many of the dates and kick-off times published today will change

...Season 2013/14..

City travel to Chelsea and ‘The Happy One’ – Jose Mourinho – on 26 October while North London rivals Arsenal and Tottenham will visit the Etihad within the space of three weeks with Spurs arriving on 23 November and Arsenal on 14 December.

The festive period is traditionally a time many supporters look to first and City fans can enjoy a Christmas at home this year with games at the Etihad against Liverpool on Boxing Day and Ian Holloway’s Crystal Palace two days later.

Travelling Blues will have to ease up on their New Year celebrations, however, with an exhausting trip to South Wales to face Swansea on 1 January!

...Season 2013/14...

The return Manchester derby at Old Trafford is not until 1 March and the Blues will wrap up the season as they started – at home – this time to West Ham United on 11 May.

This season’s FA Cup Final returns to its rightful place as the final match of the domestic season on Saturday 17 May.

News of any date and time changes will appear on mcfc.co.uk first as soon as they are announced.
