Pablo Zabaleta has been voted the 2012/13 Etihad Manchester City FC Player of the Year in association with MCFC Supporters Club (1949).

‘Zaba’, who joined the Blues from Espanyol in 2008, received 68% of the votes polled by official supporters’ clubs and fans online after a superb season during which he clocked up 42 appearances and scored three goals.

Pablo also wore the captain’s armband on numerous occasions in Vincent Kompany’s absence and also won successive Etihad Player of the Month awards for January and February.

Never afraid to put his body on the line, his numerous gashes, bumps and scrapes have endeared him to City fans for whom he has become a cult hero over the past few years.

Pablo said: “I would like to say thank you to all the City fans who voted for me. This is a great personal honour and sits alongside winning the Premier League title, captaining City and playing for my country.
