City’s young Norwegian goalkeeper, Eirik Holmen Johansen, has joined Scunthorpe on loan until the end of the season.

The 20-year-old has been a regular presence in the Elite Development Squad this season and was between the posts for City’s dramatic penalty shootout win over Blackpool in the Lancashire Senior Cup last month.

He has also chalked up two appearances for Norway U21s after graduating from the U19 setup.

It is hoped that his loan can give him more first team experience to aid his development at City, as well as making an immediate impact on Scunthorpe’s season.

The Iron currently sit a precarious two points above the relegation places in League One.

Very happy to announce that I’ve just signed a loan deal at Scunthorpe United for the remainder of the season!

Johansen signed a new contract with the Blues last summer after joining in 2008 which will keep him at the club until 2015.

He was rewarded with a place on the bench for City’s Community Shield win at the start of the season after featuring in a number of preseason friendlies.
