This is the first list we’ve brought you that nobody wants to finish top of!

City could have had another 13 Premier League goals this season but for a coat of paint – that could have brought the Blues and extra nine points or maybe more.

The margins of success and just missing out can be as close as that – but there have been 16 woodwork strikes in all competitions to date and they have been shared out as follows:

David Silva – 5

The Spaniard has been left cursing his luck on five occasions this term with his stunning strike away to Stoke in the FA Cup perhaps the pick of the bunch. Unlucky David - you are well clear in this list!

David

Pablo Zabaleta – 3

City’s Mr Indestructible doesn’t get many goals, but has bagged a couple so far this season against Stoke and Manchester United – so imagine how gutted he must feel to have seen three thumping efforts come back off the post? He could have had five goals by now had his shots been a fraction of an inch different.

Edin Dzeko – 2

With the race to be City’s top scorer this season a three-way tie between Edin, Sergio Aguero and Carlos Tevez, the two woodwork strikes the Bosnian has had so far could be the difference between finishing first and third.

One strike each

Javi Garcia, Aguero, Vincent Kompany, Yaya Toure, Jack Rodwell and Samir Nasri have all managed to hit the bar or post on one occasion during the current campaign and remember – these are the efforts that didn’t go in - unlucky, lads!
