Although he scored on his club debut, Eyal Berkovic's most famous strike was undoubtedly against Ipswich Town during the 2002 FA Cup campaign.

City, who were sitting top of the First Division, produced an outstanding performance to beat the then Premiership side at Portman Road in the fourth round of the competition.

Berkovic and Ali Benarbia were hailed as the architects of the victory and it were the same two who were involved in the stunning strike which gave City the lead in the game just before the interval.

With a keen eye, Benarbia managed to pick out Berkovic with a right-wing corner and the Israeli international scored with a stunning 20-yard volley.

The Blues went on to dominate the second half, extending their lead on the 65th minute via Shaun Goater.

Although Ipswich managed to pull a goal back, City went on to score a further two with Goater grabbing a second and Huckerby making it 4-1 to the visitors on the day.

Unfortunately the Blues’ cup run would come to an end in the fifth round when Kevin Keegan’s side suffered a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Newcastle United.
