We examine David Silva’s thrilling performance against the Royals on Tuesday night in video, stats, tweets and good old-fashioned words…

Slick City won plenty of plaudits on Tuesday night as the team produced some exhilarating football to despatch Reading 2-0.

With little hint of end of the season weariness in this game, as the side bounced back in dazzling style last night from the Wembley disappointment and the margin of victory should have been larger.

David Silva was at the centre of many of City’s best moves, including setting up Edin Dzeko for the second goal with a delicious pass.

Let’s take a closer look…

How the press saw David’s contribution…

Stuart Brennan of the Manchester Evening News awarded Silva an 8/10 for his role in the victory.

He writes: “Another star who was disappointing at Wembley but showed his wide range of passing, touch and vision – assist for Dzeko was marvellous.”

Stat area

Although stats don’t tell the whole story, check out the numbers behind Silva’s performance last night via FourFourTwo’s statzone app…

MAGIC: Second in the list of completed passes behind Yaya Toure, 60 out of the midfielder’s 70 attempted passes were successful.

MERLIN: But Silva was the most influential player in the attacking third, completing 32 of the 40 passes he attempted in that area.

CHANCE:  The Spaniard laid on eight chances for his teammates to score – one of which resulted in City’s second goal.

INTERCEPTOR: Keen to help out with defensive duties, Silva made two interceptions to win the ball back for his teammates to start another attack.
