The Blues’ stand-in skipper was equally praiseworthy of the rest of his team-mates.
“This was a very important win for us against one of the best teams in the Premier League,” said Yaya.
“It was a great team display and I think we played fantastic. We have some fantastic players at the football club and the two guys up front are unbelievable.
“We are creating chances and get more bodies forward more quickly and they are benefitting from that.
We are playing some really good stuff at home and I don’t think it will be long before we start to win games away from home, too
...Yaya Toure...
“We want to win the Premier League and we work very hard at home and away from home, too and it’s strange that we have lost so many times but as I say, I think that will start to change very soon.”
Pablo Zabaleta added: “We have amazing strikers who can score goals from anywhere but we have to keep calm because it is very early days.
“People ask how we can score so many at home and then fail to score against teams we are expected to beat – but you’’ll have to ask the strikers about that!” he laughed.
“We didn’t expect to win 6-0 against a very strong team like Spurs but sometimes that’s how it goes. We are playing very well but it’s important to play with the same attitude and style away from home, too.
“There is a long way to go but I think we will improve our results on the road where I believe we should have had maybe five or six more points than we have so far collected.”
Samir Nasri was equally delighted with the Blues’ overall display, adding: “It was really good and we showed once again that against the big squads we always respond at home.
“It’s a great result, 6-0 - you don’t see it that often. We maintained our great run at home. All the goals were really nice; it’s difficult to pick one of them. We scored six goals but we had a clean sheet as well which is also good.”
