Pablo Zabaleta says the 7-0 thrashing of Norwich was the perfect way to bounce back after last Sunday’s disappointing defeat at Stamford Bridge.

Though the Sky Blues’ form on the road has been hit and miss this season, City have turned on the style whenever they’ve played at home and the win over the Canaries maintained the 100% record at the Etihad.

“We knew before the game that we had to win this match after losing at Chelsea last weekend but I think we played really well right from the kick-off and fully deserved our victory,” said the Argentina star.

We responded well by winning at Newcastle in midweek and we continued today against Norwich

“It was a good team performance and our midfielders and strikers did especially well. Everyone knows we have to perform to our optimum levels if we want to play regularly because we have two very good players for every position in the team but we all support each other no matter who plays.”

With City averaging four goals per Premier League home game so far this campaign, Zabaleta says it is imperative to start picking up points on the road – starting next weekend at the Stadium of Light.

“Our performances at home have been fantastic so far this season but now we need to start winning away on a regular basis if we are to stay close to the top,” said Pablo. “We must start by winning at Sunderland next week.

“It’s always been a tough place for us to go but we must show we can repeat our home form on the road and though Sunderland will be fighting hard under their new manager, this is a game we need to win going into the international break.”
