Another scintillating victory for the champions left Manuel Pellegrini purring over his side's irresistible display at the Stadium of Light.

City broke their ‘jinx’ at the home of the Black Cats, coming from behind to net four glorious strikes and secure a thumping win at Sunderland - their first triumph there since 2008.

As at the weekend, Pellegrini’s men were rampant and the boss once again expressed his delight, having witnessed his side produce another solid showing in all areas of the pitch.

“We are playing very well and we repeated the same performance we did against Southampton - we were very strong,” he declared.

“I am very happy because I always say it is important to be an attractive, offensive team so the fans can enjoy the game. In the last three games, we have scored ten goals.

“We are trying to have an important amount of goals every game and it is important to defend well also.”

For a moment, it looked as though there may be a case of déjà vu for City, as the visitors fell behind on 18 minutes. However, Pellegrini’s side responded with an instant equaliser and the boss insisted he had not been worried at 1-0 down, despite past experience.

“I don’t know if it was the response of champions but we had more chances to beat Sunderland in the way we played. It’s better not to be a goal behind but I was sure we were going to win.

“We didn’t have any panic because the team is working very hard in defence and attack.

“We were very unlucky [to concede] because

Once again, it was super striker Sergio Aguero who came to the rescue with another sumptuous finish to level the scores.

On the subject of the Argentine ace, who has now scored 30 goals in his last 33 appearances, Pellegrini was full of praise but also acknowledged the displays of the rest of the squad, hinting he believes the champions are starting to reach their top form.

“I am very happy for Kun because he is working hard,” the Chilean reflected. “I always say he is too young. He is only 26 years old and I think he can improve every day.

“He wants to do it and at this moment, it is difficult for defences to stop him. He is playing a very high performance but there are so many years left for him to strengthen.

“Before he started scoring in these games in a row, I thought he was in the top five players in the world. He’s playing well as well as scoring.

“This team is not just about Aguero though. He is a very good player but the team have come here again and played the same way we did last season - we dominated the game and we have players in high performance.

Yaya has played very well in the last few games, Fernandinho is coming back to his normal peformance and Samir Nasri is also in high performance so I think that contributes for the whole team to play the way we have, alongside the strikers Kun and Stevan Jovetic.

“The team is coming again in the performance I know we can do. All the players are having more trust in what we are doing but we must continue the same way because there is a slight difference between winning and losing.”
