Capital One Cup Final fever is sweeping the globe and fans in Abu Dhabi have an incredible opportunity to come together at a special City fan-zone at the Zayed Sports City Stadium.
Supporters are invited along to Football Pitch 1 from 17:15 (kick-off 18:00 UAE time) to watch the action from Wembley outdoors, with complimentary food and drink on offer throughout the evening.
One man currently residing in the city who will definitely be keeping a close eye on events in London is ex-City striker Felipe Caicedo.
The Ecuadorian international scored seven goals for the Blues in his three years at the club and, even though he now plays for Al Jazira Club in the UAE Arabian Gulf League, he admits that his former club still occupies a special place in his heart.
“I feel happy because now I see that Manchester City is one of the biggest teams in the world,” Caicedo told Sport360.com.
“I can see a few friends who were with me before and are now playing at a good level. So that makes me feel happy because they are my team in England, I will always support Manchester City.”
Sunday’s attendees will also have the chance to win a City shirt signed by Manuel Pellegrini.
The Chilean fielded questions from the Sky Blue fan club in the UAE ahead of the event, expressing his excitement at this, his first experience of a Wembley cup final.
“A cup final is always special and this one is a chance for us to take a very positive step forward this season,” he said. “Do we talk about winning trophies all the time? No, we don’t and that is the correct way to do things.
“Manchester City is now a major club and only at the end of the season can you look at what you have done. That is the time to celebrate.
...Manuel Pellegrini...
“It was wonderful to see so many City fans on my recent trip to Abu Dhabi and they will once again be really supporting us in this Cup final I am sure.”
