Manuel Pellegrini is Barclays Premier League Manager of the Month for January after leading City to four straight Premier League victories.

Pellegrini becomes the first Blues boss to win back to back awards since the Premier League’s inception after also picking up the trophy for December, although Stuart Pearce was named Manager of the Month in April 2005 and then again the following August at the start of the new season.

City netted a magnificent 14 goals during the month, beginning with a crucial 3-2 victory away to Swansea, before strikes from Edin Dzeko and Alvaro Negredo ensured a 2-0 win over Newcastle at St James’ Park.

The Etihad Stadium crowd watched the Blues find the net four times against Cardiff before Pellegrini’s men fired five past Tottenham at White Hart Lane to definitively answer any lingering questions about the team’s away form.

City also triumphed over Watford to progress in the FA Cup, and booked another date at Wembley for the Capital One Cup final to cap off a truly remarkable start to 2014.

City take on Sunderland in the Premier League on Wednesday 12 February in what will be a dress rehearsal for the Capital One Cup Final in March.
