Manuel Pellegrini has revealed that Fernandinho and Sergio Aguero are likely to be out for at least 15 more days.

Speaking to the media ahead of Saturday’s trip to Norwich, the manager declared that both players will miss the FA Cup clash with Chelsea.

However, Edin Dzeko and Joleon Lescott are in the squad to face the Canaries.

The Chilean said: “Fernandinho is working with the physiotherapist, but I think he will be out at least 15 more days, so he will not be available for the next few games. It will be difficult for him to be ready for Barcelona.

“Aguero is the same. He is working with the physiotherapist, he has started running but he will not be available for Barcelona.

“Samir Nasri is working well, I think that next week he will working with the squad as normal. He will not be fit for Wednesday, but maybe for Saturday. For Javi Garcia we hope the same.”

Reflecting on the upcoming match with Norwich, the boss expects a difficult game but has called on his squad to respond positively to Monday’s defeat to Chelsea.

He said: “It will be a very difficult game. It is important for the team to react after the defeat at home. We play against a good team in Norwich.

“They will want revenge for what happened here at the Etihad, they are a good team who play good football so it is important for us to continue playing in the same way. I used to say in the same way as at home, but now I say away because we have won all of our last four away games.”

City continue to fight on four fronts at home and abroad, and Pellegrini is confident that the team will aim to succeed in every competition.

“We are working every day,” he declared. “It is very easy for me to say that it is my first year in the Premier League, I am just learning about the players and we don’t expect to win anything this year, but I don’t think that is the best way.

“We are working every day to do our best, and we will see what we can do in all the competitions that we are in.”

Asked about Jose Mourninho’s comments, Pellegrini said: “I think Mourinho has a strong team with some great players. I think that he is a favourite. But he thinks this way is best because if he wins, he gets all the credit but if he loses he does not have to take any responsibility. That’s the way he thinks is best for the team.

“I think it will be very close with Chelsea and Arsenal. Arsenal is the favourite at the moment , because they have a two point lead at the top of the table. The two points is an important advantage but I am sure that the three will fight to the end for the title.

“I continue to believe that Liverpool have chances, that Tottenham have chances, that Everton have chances. Football changes a lot from week to week.”
