Martin Demichelis says the City players are fully focused, determined and know exactly what is required for today's trip to Everton.

City’s Argentine defender has been in magnificent form over the past two months and has been nominated for the last two Etihad Player of the Month awards – and he says every City player will need to be at the top of their game against the Toffees at Goodison Park.

“The make-up and DNA of this club and coaching staff is always the same, regardless of the team in front of us or where we play - we always go out to win, so nothing will change for our final three games,” said Demichelis.

“The strategy is always the same - to attack, to have the most possession possible, most attempts on goal, be aggressive from kick-off and that’s how it will be against Everton.

“It won’t be easy because we have an opponent in front of us that is also looking to achieve its goals - to consolidate the fifth spot or perhaps more - so it will be an intense game that has major importance for both teams. We’re going to come out to win.”

City’s record on Merseyside in recent years may not inspire confidence, with the Blues finding both Goodison Park and Anfield fairly unhappy hunting grounds during the Premier League years.

But Demichelis says the past means nothing ahead of this clash – the only thing that matters is City performing at their optimum levels on the day.

“I’m not a fan of statistics or the past results - what matters is the present - nothing else,” he said.

“I trust in the team, in our preparation for the match over the week, the group, the team, in our style of play so I don’t really pay any attention in that type of statistic.

It’s a privilege to be at this Club and to be involved in a title race. Obviously, I don’t feel like a champion because I’m not one yet. I hope to be one because it’s a dream

“Hopefully, we can make it happen. We have to see every match as a cup final -we have to know that winning the 90 minutes each time and you will be champion because these three matches are a chance to get on end top of the Premier League.

“We’re going to go into these games with the highest passion and professionalism possible and the most intensity and aggressiveness we have. With the characteristics of this group of players, we believe we are more than capable of achieving our goals.”
